'TIS THE SEASON FOR GIVING
I'm sure many of you have already donated, but please consider any extra donations you are able to give to pro-gun organizations this year, as we will be up against a stacked legislature in the 2019 Oregon Legislative session.  I have been told by my source that our 10th District Representative, David Gomberg, has advised them that AT THE LEAST, we can expect to see a magazine capacity bill and a safe storage bill in the upcoming 2019 Oregon Legislative session…  And quite possibly some kind of “assault weapons” bill.

Gomberg even admitted to my source that the Democrats will follow the playbook of dirty tricks they have become known for in Oregon, including introducing these bills late in the session, pushing them through as quickly as possible to minimize publicity and public input, tagging them with the much abused "emergency" clause, and finally, should they pass, have the Governor sign them at the last minute to reduce the amount of time we would have to mount a challenge on the November 2019 ballot.  Elections have consequences, and the abuse will continue in Oregon.

Here are links to two of my favorite organizations to donate to:

The Oregon Firearms Federation has more than one way you may donate to them, including a Political Action Committee.  Donations to the P.A.C. are eligible for up to a $50 tax credit per person ($100 per married couple) on your Oregon tax return.  They also have a 501(c)(3) Educational Foundation, which donations to are tax deductible.  This is THE ORGANIZATION in Oregon that fights for your rights, please give to them first.

The Crime Prevention Research Center is a national organization that is producing research that proves that firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens save lives.  They have also been instrumental in refuting the shoddy, so-called “research” of the anti-gun forces.

BIG TIMBER IS ONCE AGAIN AFFILIATED WITH THE CMP
The paperwork has been filed and the dues have been paid up with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and we are once again an affiliated range.  I haven't yet fully digested what benefits are available to our membership by being a CMP affiliated range, but as an example I looked at the 1911 purchase program (I assume their other purchase programs are similar).  One of the requirements for purchase is that you must provide a copy of your current membership card, or other proof of membership, in a CMP affiliated organization.  You should receive a membership card when you sign up and pay your dues to Big Timber.  If you didn't and now need one, contact Earl Agee.

One of the other requirements for purchase is you must provide proof of participation in a marksmanship related activity or otherwise show familiarity with the safe handling of firearms and range procedures.  My understanding is that in the past we have held matches that qualify people for this and provide them with a certificate verifying their participation.  If there is enough interest in this in the future, we could arrange such events.  But, several other things also qualify by the CMPs criteria, including current or past military or law enforcement service, a concealed carry license, or even just being over 60 years of age.

Click on the CMP logo below to go to their website and explore the options and programs that are available.  Let us know what you'd like to see made available at the range.  (October 1, 2018)

LINCOLN COUNTY S.A.P. ORDINANCE MAKES THE BALLOT!
The Lincoln County Second Amendment Preservation (S.A.P.) Ordinance has been certified and will be on the November 6, 2018 general election ballot.  Please be sure to vote “Yes” to pass this measure and protect our Second Amendment rights in Lincoln County, Oregon.  A “Yes” vote on the Lincoln County Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance will be a vote telling our county government and law enforcement that we will not stand for efforts to restrict our gun rights and will not allow them to use our money for enforcement of such laws.  (updated September 2, 2018)
